I’m Still Here
Just a personal update today; nothing too exciting. I just realized I haven't written anything in a while.

Work continues apace with my Warhammer 40k 2nd Edition Army Challenge. I didn't meet the April deadline for the Wraithlord (née Dreadnought), but I've been informed that the challenge actually ends in May, which is a way to guarantee all the participants get one mulligan during the challenge. Barring any unforeseen event, I actually should get the dreadnought painted by May 31st, no problemo!

Really what takes up a lot of my time—and prevents valuable blogging—is a mixture of school and work. I'm almost finished a technical writing certificate at my local technical college, and I'm really enjoying it. I even took a class on JavaScript that was outside the program. I'm determined not to coast through like I did with university, so I do spend a lot of time thinking about how best to "convey chunks of information to my intended audience and stakeholders."

Speaking of JavaScript, I'm using my new-found knowledge of the programming language to build a system for Foundry VTT. These things take a lot of time, so I don't want to say what it is in case anyone who's better at the language, and has more time, snipes it, but it's kind of a niche game anyway, and it doesn't appear anyone's working on it. I'll keep you—my loyal cohort—informed as to when it's useable, but don't slide to the edge of your seats just yet.

I haven't been playing many games outside of my weekly role-playing night (which is really the highlight of my week). Right now we're playing through a friend's home-brew setting using the Index Card RPG. It's a lot of fun, and the system works well. I've had a bit of trouble trying to come up with anything resembling a review of it, because while I like it, it doesn't blow me away. It comes off as a more streamlined D&D5, which is great if you're looking for that sort of thing. The art, and presentation of the game looks great, though.

I managed to get a game of Epic Armageddon in with a coworker. This is our second, and I'm teaching him how to play so that he can get his own force up and running and join in on the (rather-large) community my region has. Personally, my favorite edition of Epic is Epic 40,000 (1997), but I don't think it would be fair to teach someone to play an edition of the game that no one else in the area knows just so I can get some games in.

Speaking of miniatures games, I'm going to sign off here with a heads up for everyone interested in miniatures gaming that Tuesday, May 17th is the Kickstarter launch of the newest edition of Warzone, the Mutant Chronicles miniatures game. This edition (technically the seventh if we're counting the Fantasy Flight Games version as an edition, and Prodos Games as having done two editions) is called Warzone Eternal, and I from what I've been following, I think it really has some legs. I'm not at all affiliated with the company, or the game, but I'd encourage everyone interested to check it out, as I'd really like this game to succeed, and become a miniatures gaming staple. I may have more to say about this soon. Check out the Facebook group here, and the Discord group here.
